The motivation for using such database is the growing interest of the Brazilian forensic experts as well as the Brazilian\u00a0Federal Police in writer veri\ufb01cation\/identification .<\/div>\n<div id=\"content-core\">\n<div id=\"parent-fieldname-text-9d4b5b75e4f44089826fd29f8dbb8607\" class=\"\">\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>The samples were provided by undergraduate students inthree different sessions during one month. The texts werecollected on an A4 white sheet of paper with no pen-drawbaseline and then scanned in gray level with 300 dpi (3760 X\u00a02448). Each writer was allowed to use his\/her own pen, which\u00a0means that several different pens were used. The text is concise (131 words) and complete in the sense that it contains all\u00a0characters (letters and numerals) and certain character combinations of interest. This makes it suitable for text-dependent\u00a0writer identi\ufb01cation as well.
